Cookie Policy

This page explains what Heritage Carat stores in your browser and why. It's a companion to our Privacy Policy, not a replacement for it.

Necessary

Always on — the site can't function without these. We use your browser's own local storage (not a tracking cookie) to remember the contents of your basket and any cookie-preference choice you make here, so we don't need a server-side account to keep the basket working between pages.

Analytics

On unless you turn it off. We use PostHog, an analytics tool that we run on our own servers, to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, which products are looked at or added to the basket, where checkouts are left unfinished, and roughly which country and type of device visits come from. It stores a random visitor ID in a cookie and in your browser’s local storage (names starting with ph_) so that pages viewed in the same visit can be counted together. We don’t send it your name, email address, delivery address or payment details, we don’t record your screen, and we don’t share this data with anyone. To stop it, choose “Reject” in the cookie banner or switch off Analytics under “Cookie Preferences”; to have what we already hold deleted, email us at support@heritagecarat.com.

Marketing

On unless you turn it off. We load the Google Ads tag (Google Ireland Ltd.), which sets advertising cookies to measure which of our Google ads led to a visit or an order, and to show our ads again to people who have visited this site. It receives the pages you view, the products you look at or add to your basket, and, when you place an order, the order value and a hashed (one-way scrambled) copy of your email address so the sale can be matched to an ad. To stop it, choose “Reject” in the cookie banner or switch off Marketing under “Cookie Preferences”; from then on it is not loaded and nothing more is sent. Google’s own use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Subscribing to our newsletter is handled separately (see below) and does not depend on this category — turning marketing cookies off doesn't unsubscribe you from anything, and subscribing doesn't change your cookie settings.

Newsletter

If you subscribe via the newsletter signup, we store your email address to send you occasional updates and to recognize returning subscribers. We do not share your email with third parties. You can ask us to remove it at any time by emailing support@heritagecarat.com.

Changing your choice

You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of any page.
